Europe’s first wine cinema is Hungarian!

If you are bored with popcorn and cola in the cinema, try grissini and wine – for example in Hungary’s (and also Europe’s) first wine cinema.

I’m a fan of movies and sometimes I like finding alternative possibilities for watching a film at a plaza or in a traditional art cinema. So I have already been to an outdoor cinema and to the Bed Cinema in Budapest, but now I’ve found something that I really want to try.

A wine cinema has recently opened its gates on a vineyard in Kéthely, approximately 10 kilometres from Balatonmáriafürdő. You can find this special cinema at Kristinus Wine Estate, on the south shore of Lake Balaton and I think you will be as impatiently waiting to try it as I do now.

Hungary’s and also Europe’s first wine cinema, Vinocino is offering a unique experience for film and wine enthusiasts: as the name suggests, the program here promises quality films and wine tasting, for a reasonable price.

Award winning wines are offered by the glass or by the bottle, and guests can choose from two kinds of grissini and dips, as well. Screenings start at 6 pm, and according to the Kristinus Wine Estate website, both dubbed and subtitled films are being shown.

After watching a movie here, you can stay for dinner at Kristinus Gastro Bistrot or spectacular concerts and performances in their open-air concert hall. Don’t worry you don’t have to drive after one (or two) glasses of wine, because the 10-room Kristinus Vinotel provides accommodation for those who would like to extend their stay on the vineyard.
