The company that owns the iconic game is sold for 15 billion (!) Forints.

If we’re talking about a famous Hungarian invention, it is quite certain that 10 out of 10 people would mention the Rubik's Cube. The game, which has become iconic, was invented by Ernő Rubik Jr. back in 1974, originally as an educational aid. But some years later, when the game was launched on the world market, it had an unsurpassed success. This means that in the past few decades, more than 350 million have been sold from the magic cube!

And now the story of Rubik cube arrived to a new turning point: it has been sold to a Canadian company. The Huffington post wrote that the Canadian Spin Master toy factory is acquiring Rubik’s Brand Limited, a company that owns the Rubik’s Cube, for $ 50 million USD (more than 15 billion HUF). Spin Master is one of the biggest players in the gaming industry that has become a giant by buying iconic games like Rubik's Cube one after another.

Rumors didn’t mention whether Ernő Rubik would leave the company or how much he would receive from the purchase price, but this is an interesting change in the life of the most famous Hungarian game either way.
