Not only the view from here is amazing but the sphere lookout in Balatonboglár itself, too – it was recently chosen lookout tower of the year in Hungary.
The ‘Lookout of the Year’ competition was announced for the first time in 2020 and with more than 3900 votes, the winner is Xantus János Gömbkilátó, a sphere lookout in Balatonboglár.
According to the following video, it was made of aluminium, in 1963 by the young architect team of the Székesfehérvár Metalworkers Company, and it served as a temporary sight at the Budapest International Fair.

The sphere is 165 meters high, 15 meters in diameter, and it was made of 240 huge triangular plates. But it has the same importance that it offers an amazing panorama of Lake Balaton – an absolutely must-see when you visit this region.
