These rinks offer pleasant time and fun with the family or with friends.

Although the weather doesn't show it, the ice skating season is here. As every year, we collected the best ice rinks of the city: there are many small ones at every square of Budapest, and many shopping mall save their own, but these 5 places won't disappoint anyone for sure.

City Park Ice Rink

City Park Ice Skating rink is not only the most popular skating rink in Budapest, but also the most famous, as its history dates back to the 19th century. It's the largest outdoor ice rink in Europe, so it's really worth visiting, all the more so they have all services you might need: skate sharpening, skates rental, cafeteria, ice skating training. Opening: from the middle of November, depending on the weather.

Saint Stephen's Square

The Christmas fair and the ice skate rink before St. Stephen's Basilica is also a mesmerizing place. This fair has been voted to be Europe's second best Christmas market last year, because of the quality of merchant offering and the atmosphere of the ice rink. Please note, that only children under the age of 14 can use the rink, but it's sill a good destination for families. Opening: 22 November.

Ice rink at Óbuda, Fő tér

Just like at St. Stephen's Square, the skating rink will be built in Óbuda's Main Square in connection with the Advent Fair, but it is planned to remain open here until the end of February. This rink has beautiful and charming environment, floodlight, family atmosphere and a Christmas tree in the middle of the rink. Beginners and those wishing to practice can get skating lessons on Saturdays. Opening: 30 November

Bálna Budapest

This year Santa Claus will bring the ice rink to the Bálna, as the outdoor ice rink will be welcoming skaters to from December 6, and is scheduled to run until the end of February. This ice rink before Bálna Budapest is city's largest free ice-skating rink. And obviously it has the most beautiful panorama as well: as it’s situated on the Danube-shore, we can admire the river and Buda side with Gellért hill and the Castle.

MÜPA

“Kultúr Kültér”, the Winter Series of Müpa returns offering concerts and circus performances with a nearly 350 square meters ice rink from early December. It' really charming here with the spectacular light painting of the building in the background and it's also a good point that we can warm up in heated buffet. Opening: 1 December
