Hungarian success: our capital was chosen by one of the important members of the automotive industry to open a modern technical development centre. British car maker Jaguar choose Budapest for that, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó told public Kossuth Radio on 2 November, writes Index.hu by referring to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The facility will be opened early next year and they will employ hundred Hungarian engineers at first – they will work on the IT development and electric drive of the cars –, the minister said, by adding that Jaguar choose Budapest for Europe’s lowest corporate tax and other tax benefits linked to research and development, and also for high levels of technical education.

He also said that the new centre will focus on developing and introducing new models, and that the company will primarily make electric cars from 2020 on.

Jaguar has similar centres only in the UK, Ireland, North America and China.
