ARC Exhibition No. 17: Watch out civilians!
Posted by Budnews · Sep 11, 2017

Our favorite annual billboard exhibition is here again.

ARC exhibition is the most exciting, most rebellious, most outspoken thing in town for ages. The name itself means „face” and it’s basically a competition for individuals, NGOs and creative agencies to make the best billboard. ARC has a main theme every year – usually current political theme – and a twist: applicants add second meaning to an ad, or turn the meaning into its opposite.

This year’s theme is to remain a civilian: on the opportunities of being a civilian in Hungary. Everything here serves the purpose to not only look but see, and not only listen but understand too. Talk and think freely without limitations, and listen to your heart and mind!

Although many of the billboards have Hungarian caption, we still recommend visiting, because ARC gives a very realistic imprint of the current Hungarian public life. Our favorite is the picture below: someone took the controversial „stop the immigration” board and turned it into a proposal question. The new billboard says: “Let’s stop loneliness: will you marry me?” How cute and creative!
