We’ve been saying for a long time that cartoons, in addition to be at least as much interesting for adults than children, are very trendy fashion icons as well. A Hungarian brand, BP Clothing now built a capsule collection for the 80’s Hungarian cult film “Macskafogó”.
To prepare the collection, they even contacted the director Béla Ternovszky to create truly authentic pieces. On these T-shirts, baseball caps and hoodies all the main characters appear: secret agent Grabowski, trumpeter Dick “Lazy” and the gangster rats: Cookie, Buddy and Billy.

The limited edition collection combined with an exclusive appearance also meant a challenge to the artists next to the honor. All the more so because their objective was to introduce a new perspective into the domestic clothing industry. The BDPST wants to steer a little attention to the home-produced animated films with this reinterpreting, because as they said, this is a living profession, with great professionals.

In case you are still not familiar with the movie, here comes a couple of background infos: the production of 500 thousand dollars got to America titled “Cat City”, but only on VHS, as the Disney reportedly crossed across the cinematic presentation. In the Soviet Union, however, nothing had prevented the film getting into theaters, the people flocked to see, and it’s real cult film on the Russian market even today.
